Edna Hardy, 93, of Sulphur, LA died at 4:00 AM on Saturday, April 7, 2012 in a local care facility.
Mrs. Hardy was born September 16, 1918 in Beaver, LA to the late Marshall and Irene Dellafosse and lived most of her life in Sulphur, LA. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Maplewood. She was a charter member of the NAACP and received the honor of deputy sheriff. She will always be remembered as a very generous person who loved animals and enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Mrs. Hardy is survived by her children, Dorothy Orsot (Nicholas) of Lake Charles, Leroy Hardy of Denver, CO, and Betty Lewis (Willie M.) of Augusta, GA; brothers, Howard Dellafosse of California; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Antoine Hardy; brothers, Horace, Hardin, and Nelson Dellafosse; and sister, Ancerbell Fontenot.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Johnny Mounce will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service with a rosary at 10:00 AM.
