Edna Mary Cormier

Edna Mary Cormier, 90, of Lake Charles died at 3:30 AM Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in a local hospital.


Mrs. Cormier was born in Lake Arthur, Louisiana to the parents of Mary and Joseph Cormier. She was a 1939 graduate of Bell City High School where she played on the girl's high school basketball team. In 1942-1943 she was a spot welder for an aircraft manufacturing facility in San Diego, California during WWII. She worked as a drill press operator in Los Angeles, California towards the end of the war.

When she moved to Lake Charles she worked at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital as a nurse's assistant. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing and French Music and traveling with her sister.


Those left to cherish her memory are her son Ronnie Cormier and his wife Judith of Moss Bluff, LA, one daughter Elizabeth L. Cormier of Lake Charles, LA, the grandchildren Jennifer Trahan of San Francisco, CA, Jacquelyn Alexander and Jeanna Cormier both of Lake Charles, LA, one sister Mae Brown of Buna, TX, three sisters-in-law, Audrey Marcantel and Betty Mary Cormier, and the dog Tee Brud.


Edna is preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children Harold L. Cormier, and one brother, Clarence L. Cormier.


Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday at 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary to be held at 6:00 PM. Visitation will begin on Saturday at 8:00 AM until the time of services.
