Edward Bruce Dugas

March 25, 1978 — February 19, 2020

Edward Bruce Dugas, 41, beloved brother and uncle, was called to his eternal resting place on February 19, 2020.  He entered this world on March 25, 1978 in Lake Charles, LA, born to Edward Dugas and Mona Smith.  He lived in Austin, Texas the remaining years of his life.  To most he was referred to as “Eddie,” but growing up, to his family, he was “Little Edward”.  He is survived by his two sisters, Taysha D. Gibbs and husband Joshua of New Orleans, Brandy Smith of Lake Charles, and three brothers, James Evans and wife Monica of Haughton, LA, Michael Smith of Florida, and Kirk Smith of Lake Charles, and five nephews Aidan and Alec Gibbs, Tyler and Zachery Linden and Jared Evans.

Eddie was loved by all and was always full of life.  He lit up a room with his beautiful and charming personality.  He knew how to make others laugh and he was always the life of the party.  Eddie truly loved to travel and be on the water.  He also was an avid reader and could often be found in the early morning enjoying a cup of coffee along with one of his books.  He enjoyed cooking and was known for his gumbo and potato salad.  He loved people and never met a stranger.  He was a devoted brother, uncle and friend.

He will be sorely missed and never forgotten. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for your prayers, kind sentiments, expressions of sympathy and offers of assistance.  It has been humbling and has meant so much to the family.

A Celebration of Life will be at 4:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2020 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Charles.  Visitation Friday will be from 3:00 PM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mental Health America (MHA), www.mhanational.org.
