Edward "Ed" Broussard

Edward “Ed” Broussard, 87, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 4:30 PM on Monday, January 11, 2021 in a local hospital.

Mr. Broussard was born October 23, 1933 in Avery Island, LA, was a 1953 graduate of New Iberia High School and served his country in the U.S. Army.  He worked as a sheet metal journeyman at various places throughout the years, including Dubois Sheetmetal, Trouth, and Air Conduit.  He later worked at Boeing and Northrop Grumman for many years.  After retirement, he continued to work for Alfred Palma and Nagem Nuclear Pharmacy.  Mr. Broussard had a love for sports and played baseball and fastpitch softball for many years with the Stevedores and Abe’s Grocery.  He was an avid bowler, bowling a perfect game years ago and continued with this passion until the pandemic.  He bowled with the K.C. League, the Sunday 7 and could be found at the bowling alley several nights a week.  He also enjoyed fishing and shrimping with his family and will be remembered as a fun, outgoing man who never met a stranger.

Mr. Broussard is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Cloma Broussard; children, Jill Breaux and husband Gerald, David Broussard and wife Jackie, Philip Broussard and wife Marty, all of Lake Charles, Neal Broussard and wife Teresa of Seabrook, TX, Pam Gautreaux and husband Kevin, and Rita Crochet and husband Jeaux, of Lake Charles; sister, Irene Richard of Loreauville, LA; grandchildren, Heather Breaux (Chris), Celeste Milner (Luke), Erin Thibodeaux (Brett), Mandi Pryor (Strekker), Megan Broussard, Kameron Quesenberry (Winston), Jessica Crochet, Brandon Broussard, Blake Broussard, Garrett Broussard, Josie Crochet, Kayleigh Gautreaux, Gabby Broussard, Lexy Broussard, and Jaida Crochet; fifteen great-grandchildren with one on-the-way; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Irma Broussaard; and brothers Rene Broussard and Sidney Broussard.

His funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  *Please note masks will be required for attendees.*  Father Levi Thompson will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be at University Baptist Church on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Monday at University Baptist from 10:00 AM to 12:45 PM.
