Edward "Ed" Cayo Martin

September 10, 1963 — June 21, 2021

Edward “Ed” Cayo Martin, 57, died peacefully at home in Jonestown, TX on June 21, 2021.

Ed was born in Newport, VT to Cayo Arthur and Kathryn Lois Henry Martin. He grew up in Lake Charles, LA.  He attended Immaculate Conception School, St Louis High School, and graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1981.

Those who knew Ed will remember him as charismatic, charming, fun-loving, spontaneous, kind, and generous.  Ed was a natural born salesman, entrepreneur, and a talented musician with a passion for fishing.

Ed is survived by one daughter, Laura Kathryn Baxter (Jon); three grandchildren, Anabel, Leon, and Zara, all of South Shields, England; one sister, Carol Ann Martin of Lake Charles; Niece and Nephews, Cassandra, Sebastien and Gabriel Levac, all of Quebec, Canada; and numerous cousins and close family friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn and Cayo Martin, and his brother, James “Jim” Whitney Martin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.  Msgr. Jace Eskind will preside.  Inurnment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation on Saturday will be at the church from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, with a rosary being recited at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the local Salvation Army, or charity of choice.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to DeeDee and Rick Himel, family by choice, for their help and support during this difficult time.
