Edward Eugene Bonvillain

Edward Eugene Bonvillain, Jr., 86, of Ragley, LA, died at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in a local care facility.

Mr. Bonvillain was born June 23, 1933 in Eunice, LA and lived most of his life in Ralgey.  He attended LaGrange High School and McNeese State University.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy, where he received an honorable discharge.  He worked for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #106 for many years and then retired in 2009 from Olin after seventeen years of service as a planner and scheduler.  Mr. Bonvillain was a member of the Masonic Lodge #443 in Westlake and was a Master Marksman with a 45 pistol.  He enjoyed carving duck decoys and songbirds and displaying and competing them at local festivals.  He also enjoyed working in his yard and picnicking in the park.  He also loved to watch the squirrels and birds from his patio while drinking his coffee.

Mr. Bonvillain is survived by his sons, Matt Bonvillain and wife Debbie of Ragley, Robert Bonvillain and wife Susan of Lake Charles, and Lance Bonvillain and wife Karen of Bryant, AR; daughter, Connie Fontenot and husband Max of Sand Springs, OK; fifteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Bonvillain; parents, Edward Eugene Bonvillain, Sr. and Grace Marie Savoy; daughter, Addie Myers; brothers, Billy Bonvillain and Larry Bonvillain; and his close friend, Ms. Jimmie Haygood.

His memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Moss Bluff.  Rev. Glenn George will officiate.  Burial will follow in Hagar Cemetery in Ragley, LA.  A gathering of family and friends will be at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
