Edward Istre, 83, of Ragley passed away at 9:50 AM on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 in a local hospice facility. Mr. Istre was born on February 7, 1932 in Lake Charles, LA where he was a graduate of LaGrange High School. He moved to Ragley 40 years ago. Mr. Istre proudly served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He retired from South Central Bell as a technician over 25 years ago. Mr. Istre was a member of Dequincy Church of Christ where he was a Deacon. He was a jack of all trades and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Mr. Istre volunteered his time to anyone in need of his skills. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Rosetta “Totsie” Istre of Ragley; two sons, Michael K. Istre (Tanya) of Moss Bluff and Philip D. Istre of Pigeon Forge, TN; three grandchildren, Robert E. McKelvain and Christopher and Camryn Istre; and two great grandchildren, Damien and Dominic McKelvain. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Istre McKelvain; his parents, Valcin and Sola Istre; one sister; and five brothers. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Dequincy Church of Christ. Elder Ray Franks and Ray Hyatt will officiate. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
