Edward Gene Jardell, 80, of Lake Charles, native of Vinton, passed away on September 8, 2017 in a local care center. He graduated from Vinton High School and attended SLI which is now ULL and was a graduate of Army NCO Academy. Ed was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, farmed rice, soybeans, cattle and owned carwashes in Sulphur and Vinton. He also owned “Mr. J’s” restaurant in Vinton. He loved playing music with his band “Louisiana Scramble” and entertaining residents in nursing homes. Ed enjoyed living life to the fullest and making people smile.
Edward is survived by his son, Philip Jardell and Tracy Moore; his sister, Debra LaFleur and husband Joseph all of Vinton; stepdaughter, Christy Moore Clark and husband Trent of Moss Bluff; his nephew, Chase Jardell and wife Jessica of Moss Bluff; his first wife, Kay Jardell; his second wife, Debbie Jardell; 3 grandchildren, Amber and Lauren Jardell and Cane Moore; his great granddaughter, Rian Keepes; his great nephew, Gabriel and great niece, Emma Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alec and Anna Mae Jardell; and his son, Jeff Jardell.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 10 A.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel in Sulphur. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 4-8 P.M. with a rosary at 6 P.M. at the funeral home with visitation continuing on Monday, September 11 at 8 A.M. until time of the service.
