Edward Joseph Abrusley

Edward Joe "E.J." Abrusley, 64, of Lake Charles, died Saturday July 25, 2015 at M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston. Mr. Abrusley was a native of Oakdale, LA. He was a graduate of Oakdale High School and attended LA Tech and McNeese State University, where he played football. In 1983 he, along with his wife, established Oasis Food, Inc. in their home. Together, they worked to grow their business to be very respected and successful. He was n avid sports fan that enjoyed Football and Basketball and cheered loudest for Alabama games. His passion was "food" cooking, watching cooking shows, going to conventions with his family. Mr. Abrusley's generosity was immeasurable, selfless as it was important to him to help others better themselves. He has brought countless family members to the states, housed them and contributed to their education often, simply out of love for family. He will be most remembered as a man with a sharp mind for business right up to the very end, humble, well respected and man of his word. Mr. Abrusley was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. He leaves to honor his memory, the love of his life of 36 years, his wife, Wedad Ashy Abrusley; son, Shadi Abrusley; daughters, Samia Khoury a husband, Jacob and Omaia Abrusley and one granddaughter, Abla Khoury, all of Lake Charles, three brothers, Mike Abrusley, Mark Abrusley and Paul Abrusley, all of Oakdale; three sisters, Pauline McLachlan and husband Andy of Lake Charles, LA, Lisa Longino of Oakdale and Melissa Parks and husband Ken of Alexandria; a large extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Asine Ashy Abrusley. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:00 PM Friday, July 31, 2015 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Reverend Bill Miller will officiate. Reverend Marcus Johnson will concelebrate. Interment will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Thursday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Friday will be from 8:00AM until 11:30 AM in the funeral home.
