Edward L. O'Neal, 87, of Lake Charles passed away at 5:00 PM, Monday, October 8, 2012 in a local Hospital.
Mr. O'Neal was born September 10, 1925 in Kinder, Louisiana, and then moved to Lake Charles for the remainder of his life. Mr. O'Neal served in the Pacific during World War II in the U.S. Navy, returned home to work for the American Telephone Telegraph Company until he retired with Forty Years of service. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers, American Legion Post 179, VFW Post 2130, CWA, and St. Margaret's Catholic Church. He treasured the time spent with his friends that he walked with in the mall and being with family.
Survivors include his four sons, James Michael O'Neal of Sulphur, Kenneth L. and wife Gail O'Neal of Baton Rouge, Russell K. and wife Dedrah O'Neal of Lake Charles, Jeffery S. and wife Cheryl O'Neal of Moss Bluff, Nine Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, two brothers Milton and wife Jean O'Neal and John and wife Wanda O'Neal.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Rena Armentor O'Neal; his parents, Milburn and Fannie Duplichain O'Neal; sister, Ruby Bourque and husband Allen Bourque; and Grandson Eric James O'Neal.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a scripture service at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
He was always there for us and will live forever in our hearts.
