Edward Lynn Foret, 89, of Lake Charles passed away at 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 20, 2012 in a local care facility.
Mr. Foret was a native of Lutcher, LA and lived in Lake Charles for sixty-five years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in China, Burma, and India. Mr. Foret was a graduate of Louisiana State University and retired as a Chemical Engineer from Cities-Service Refinery. His passion for swimming began as a child and led to a scholarship in swimming to LSU. He taught lessons for the Red Cross and earned several gold medals in the Senior Olympics. Mr. Foret was a longtime member of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception and was very active in the Catholic Schools. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Bossier Foret; his children, Kathy Gurney and husband Win of Tarpon Springs, FL, Dr. Lynn Foret and wife Sharon of Lake Charles, Jeanne Chapman and husband Dwayne of Baton Rouge, and Suzanne Freeman and husband Robert of New Iberia; one daughter-in-law, Sally Foret of Lake Charles; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Foret and wife Catherine and Eugene Foret; sister, Lorraine LaRose. He was preceded in death by his son Dr. John Thomas Foret.
His Funeral Mass will at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday, with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 PM and continue from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM, Monday, in the funeral home.
