Edwin Aaron Prather

Edwin Aaron Prather, 83, of Lake Charles passed away in his residence, Wednesday, August 22, 2012 surrounded by his family.

Edwin was born on November 6, 1928 in Oakdale, LA to Bertha Holden Prather and Aaron Prather. He was a long time resident of Lake Charles and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Lake Charles Diesel. Mr. Prather was a member of VFW Post #2130.

He is survived by his wife Jeanora Fontenot Prather; two daughters, Martha Trahan of Grand Lake and Gwendolyn Droddy of Buna, Texas; one son, Brian Thomas of Lake Charles; one brother, James L. Prather; five sisters, Marlene Richard, Kay Jaramillo, Betty Fusilier all of Lake Charles; Loretta Leger of Hayes, LA, and Lennie Mae Daley of Carencro, LA; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; six children, four grandchildren and three siblings.

His funeral will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 25, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Paul Estes will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Friday and continue from 9:00 AM until time of service in the funeral home.
