Edwin Ellis Blessing, Sr.

Edwin Ellis Blessing, Sr., 73, of Lake Charles, LA died at 2:50 AM on Monday, September 9, 2013 surrounded by his loving family in a local hospital.

Mr. Blessing was born January 28, 1940 in Lake Charles, LA, where he was a lifelong resident. He was a 1958 graduate of LaGrange Senior High School and attended McNeese State University. He worked at Cities Service as an operator for twenty-one years and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office for sixteen years as a Reserve deputy. He also worked for Calcasieu Marine National Bank in security for sixteen years and the Federal Court House for fourteen years as a Deputy Marshall. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Mr. Blessing enjoyed woodworking, fishing and played the guitar with a number of bands throughout the years. He enjoyed helping others and will always be remembered for his sense of humor. He was one of a kind.

Mr. Blessing is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Peggy Ann LeBlanc Blessing; children, Eddie Blessing, Jr. and companion Annette Ardoin, Melina Dally and husband Joe, all of Lake Charles, Bryan Blessing and wife Becky of Katy, TX, Patty Blessing of Cypress, TX, Christy Blessing of Katy, TX, and Keith Blessing and wife Stephanie of Oakland, TN; brother, William R. Bill Blessing and wife Carolyn of New Braunsfels, TX; grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Bertrand, Jenifer Dally, Christopher (Brittney) Blessing, Brandon (Delena) Blessing, Andy Blessing, Zachary Blessing, Alyssa Livingston, Joshua Livingston, Dominic Trahan, Payton Trahan, Seth Blessing, Micah Blessing, Abby Blessing, Bethany Blessing, Nathan Blessing; great-grandchildren, Madyson Blessing, Asher Blessing, Ella Blessing, Luke Bertrand, and one on-the-way.; along with numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Lawrence Blessing; mother, Helen Weber Seamons; step-father, Roy Seamons; and brother, Larry Gene Blessing.

His funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Keith Blessing will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
