Elaine Addison Deshotel

Elaine Addison Deshotel died September 7, 2023, at Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles. She was a lifetime resident of Lake Charles, where she was born July 16, 1942, to Evan and Elda (Mere) Addison.

Elaine graduated from LaGrange High School, class of 1960. Following graduation, she raised her family while earning a degree in accounting. Elaine retired from her long-time job with the State of Louisiana where she worked in the Support Enforcement division.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her youngest daughter Cynthia Ann Deshotel, her sister, Barbara Addison Mott Thibodeaux, her brother, Melvin Addison, and beloved son-in-law Lynn Ray Lamprise.

Surviving are her former husband of 33 years, William Paul Deshotel and his wife Judy Vawter Deshotel who became a close friend; her daughters, Pauline Deshotel Lamprise Howard and her husband David, of LaGrange, Georgia and Peggy Frazier and her husband Ralph, of Fort Worth, Texas ; her son Dwayne Deshotel, and his wife Brandee of Lake Charles; many nieces and nephews, who knew her as “Nan” and “Boney;” 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and her constant companion, her Yorkie, Ellie Mae.

Elaine loved her family and enjoyed hosting get-togethers with them, camping with her beloved godson, Michael Mott, traveling to visit family and friends and dancing. She could really cut a rug! She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to laugh, was extremely empathetic, as well as a phenomenal cook, a good friend, and a devoted mother.

There will be a “Celebration of Life” get together for family and friends, Saturday, April 20, at 11:00 am at Elaine’s home, located at 2954 Elda St., Lake Charles, LA.
