Elaine Corbello, 83 of Lake Charles, LA was called into her Lord’s loving arms, surrounded by her family on December 12, 2020.
Elaine was one of eleven children, born on July 29, 1937 in Welsh, LA to Lester and Lena Benoit.
As luck would have it, while attending her brother Harold’s wedding, she met the man she would share her life with. Frank politely introduced himself, taken by her beauty and poise, asked her to a dance. She was so impressed with him, that she accepted his request to take her on their first date, to a local dance hall. They would exchange good conversation, dance steps and in April 1953 they exchanged their Vows of Holy Matrimony at Our Lady Seven Dolors Catholic Church.
Together they welcomed two children: Sheryl in 1954 and Glenna in 1956. As a mother, she was dutiful to her faith and family. The doors to their home were warm and welcoming; whether it was the family or friends gathered around her table; she enjoyed conversation and fellowship of each carefully prepared meal. She worked as the Service Desk Supervisor at K-Mart for 28 years. When she was not working, or spending time with her family, you would find her delicately attending to her garden or taking family vacations together. In 1975, with open arms “Maw” welcomed the first of many grandchildren into her life and to fill the spaces around her family dinner table.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents; four siblings, Ethel Ardoin, Inez McGee, Linda Simmons, and Irving Benoit.
Those left to cherish her memory; her husband of 67 years, Frank Corbello, her daughters, Sheryl Corbello and Glenna Cormier; grandchildren, Jenara Anderson, Courtney Williams, Brittani (Stuart) Henderson, Brandon (Michelle) Cormier, Joshua (Amy) Cormier, Andrea Cormier; a niece, Mica (Keith) Reinsch; great grand-children, Ella, Jackson, Madeline, Luke, Samantha, Grant, Dylan, Alex, Tayton, Jaci, and Ty, Bailey, Andee, TJ; siblings, Harold Benoit, Irma Fruge, Renella McCreary, Faye Broussard, Katherine Marcantel, “Butch” Benoit.
The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff from 4:30pm to 9pm with a rosary beginning at 6pm. Visitation to resume Thursday at 9am until time of service. A Mass of Christian Burial, led by Father Paul Jessen will be held at Our Lady Good Council Catholic Church beginning at 2pm. She will be laid to rest at Lacassine Catholic Cemetery.
