Elaine Cortez Schneider

Elaine Cortez Schneider, 88, of Lake Charles died at 11:35 PM on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Schneider was born on March 30, 1924 in Sikes, LA and had lived in Lake Charles since 1941. She was a graduate of Sikes High School and also received a degree in cosmetology. Mrs. Schneider began her career as a beautician at Stella's Beauty Shop before owning and operating a salon where she retired.

She was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church and also belonged to the Ruth Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Ronald Sanders of Boise, ID and Greg Sanders of Lake Charles; a sister, Gloria Landry and husband Randolph of Lake Charles; a brother, G.M. Gentry and wife Marie of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Michelle and James Sanders, Kimberly Smith and husband Bubba, and Monica Abshire and husband Josh; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Schneider and an infant grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 22, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Theron Watson will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
