Elaine Marie Cation Derouen

April 5, 1944 — February 3, 2022

Elaine Marie Cation Derouen born April 5, 1944 took the hands of Jesus on February 3 and entered the gates of Heaven.  She was surrounded by her family that prayed with her and loved on her until she took her final breath.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. John Vianny Catholic Church in Bell City.  Fr. John Payne will officiate.  Visitation will begin on Sunday in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Moss Bluff at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will resume in the funeral home on Monday from 8:30 AM until leaving for the church at 10:00 AM.  Cremation will follow the services and inurnment will be held at a later date at Derouen-Lorraine Cemetery in Bell City.

Elaine’s greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.  She was her grandkids biggest cheerleader and could always be seen cheering at their ballgames.  Her loss will leave a void in their hearts that will never be replaced. To know her was to love her and we will forever be blessed to have been a part of her life.

She graduated from Welsh High School in 1962 and married the love of her life that same year.  She was a smiling face at Shakey’s Pizza for 14 years.  She was a devoted member of St. Margaret Catholic Church for over 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jimmy Derouen; parents Robert and Rena Cation.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Tammy McKeivier of Lake Charles; sons, Carl (Carolyn) Derouen of Ragley and Scotty (Dee Dee) Derouen of Lake Charles;  grandsons,  Zachary (Heath) McKeivier, Tyler McKeivier, Gerrod (Alexis) Fulmer and Cameron Derouen; granddaughters, Katelyn (Cameron) Benoit and Alyssa (Bradey) Levine; great grandchildren, Kallie Lejeune, Ella Fulmer, Silas McKeivier, Roman McKeivier and Jonah McKeivier; her best friend, Yvonne Primeaux, who stayed true to their friendship until the very end.

The family wants to thank Heart of Hospice, especially Brittany and Brandi for their exceptional care of our mother and also our daytime sitter, Betty Doyle.
