Elaine Tate Debarge

Elaine Tate DeBarge, 93, of Lake Charles passed away at 1:48 PM on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 in her residence.

Mrs. DeBarge was born on August 28, 1929 in Mamou where she was raised before moving to Lake Charles.  Some of her fondest memories were when she was in the kitchen cooking one of her wonderful meals for her family.  She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren and will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Gretta Manuel of Lake Charles, Mark DeBarge (Debbie) of Sulphur, Robert DeBarge of Toledo Bend, and Randy DeBarge (Donna) of Moss Bluff; and a sister, Nary Reed of Mamou.  She was blessed to be given nine grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emily and Kenneth Tate; father of her children, J.C. DeBarge; and five siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 14, 2022 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.  The Rev. Doyle Evans will officiate.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation will begin on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
