Elbert Wilson Simmons, 71 of Sulphur passed away on February 6, 2015 in his residence. Elbert was born in Westlake and was a life-long resident of the Sulphur area. He retired from PPG Industries after 39 years. Elbert served his country in the U S Army, he was an avid fisherman, and loved dirt track racing. He was a friend to all who needed help. Elbert is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen Burnett Simmons, of Sulphur; a daughter, Sheryl Simmons and fiancé Matthew Drogowski; and a son, Wilson Simmons and wife Debra; and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bois and Ema Simmons; and a grandson, Christopher Kelley. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 10 A.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Mittie, LA under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 8, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. at the funeral home and will continue on Monday at 8 A.M. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
