Elda Pratt

Elda Janet Brown Pratt, 76, of Lake Charles, LA, went home to be with her Lord at 9:40 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in a local care facility.

Mrs. Pratt was born December 27, 1941 in Eunice, LA and has lived in Lake Charles since 1964. She was the co-owner of Car Care Auto Parts and later sold Mary Kay for a number of years. She was a strong spirited woman, an active member of Trinity Baptist and had a great love for her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Pratt loved to travel and shop. During her younger years, she also enjoyed fishing and crabbing. She had a giving heart and never missed a birthday or anniversary.

Mrs. Pratt is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Herbert Lee Pratt, Sr.; sons, Samuel D. Guillory of Lake Charles and James Ferriss and wife Misty of DeRidder; step-children that she loved, Angela Pratt Guillot and husband Joey of Moss Bluff, Vicki Pratt Yocum and husband Kenneth of Gilmer, TX, Carla Pratt of Lake Charles and Lee Pratt of Vinton, LA; sisters, Sue Bushnell of Basile, LA and Effie Manuel of Elton, LA; brother, Davis Reed of Richmond, KY; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends including Trinity Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Una and Ava Reed; sister, Laura Deshotel; and brother, Aubrey Reed.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Greg Bath will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
