Eleanor Robinson

November 18, 1926 — January 30, 2013

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.


Eleanor Merlyn Robinson, 86, of Lake Charles died at 10:15 AM Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in a local care facility.


Mrs. Robinson was born in Bogalusa, AL on November 18, 1926 to the parents of Eloise and George Washington Glover. She was a 1943 graduate of Bogalusa High School. She was a graduate of Louisiana State University where she received a BA in Chemistry Mrs. Robinson was also a graduate of McNeese State University where she received a degree in Education. Mrs. Robinson has lived in Lake Charles since 1947. She worked for the Calcasieu Parish School Board for many years and taught Science at WW Lewis, S.J. Welsh, and at Alfred M. Barbe . She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church since 1956. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and a Come Lord Jesus Member. She also participated in PTA and was a substitute teacher at St. Margaret School. Mrs. Robinson attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. She was a member of the Swinging Rebels Square Dance Club. Mrs. Robinson loved spending time with her grandchildren, reading, sewing and spending time at her camp at Toledo Bend where she loved to fish. She also loved to travel with her husband to Galveston, TX and all across the United States on vacation.


Eleanor was a three time survivor of cancer and a member of a Colostomy support group.


She is survived by three daughters, Renee Poinboeuf, Jackie Goodwill and husband Robert and Patty Hebert and husband Archie all of Lake Charles, LA., four sons, Earl Rick Robinson III, of Lake Charles, LA, Robert Robinson and wife Angela of Weston, CO, Larry Robinson and wife Sheree of Sulphur, LA, and Kent Robinson of Trinidad, CO, one brother, George W. Glover, Jr. and wife Betty of Seabrook, TX., one brother-in-law, Bill Robinson of Knoxville, TN, fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.


Mrs. Robinson is preceded in death by her husband Earl Robinson Jr.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2.2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Keith Pellerin and Father Charles McMillan will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary to be held at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday at 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
