Eleanor "Ruth" Derouen Stevens, 80, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Stevens was born August 12, 1931 to Sidney and Marie Fruge Derouen of Bell City. She was a 1948 graduate of Bell City High School, 1950 McNeese Junior College in Business and 1954 University of Southern Louisiana with a Bachelor degree in Business Education.
Mrs. Stevens married I.W. "Steve" Stevens in 1954 and began her journey of eighteen years as an United States Air Force wife, allowing her to see the world. She worked forty-five years as a Secretary, having worked in the petrochemical field and the Department of Defense, most of her career was in the real estate and legal fields, primarily with, Reinauer Real Estate and Attorney Floyd Roddy. She was also a Notary Public for over twenty-five years.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of fifty-seven years, I.W. "Steve" Stevens, of Lake Charles; one son, Michael W. Stevens and wife Sandy of Bell City; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Stevens of Lake Charles; one granddaughter, Sydney Stevens of Bell City and two sisters, Leatrice Coleman and husband Steve of Bell City and Sharon Bell and husband Michael of Hot Springs Village, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Shawndell, Mrs. Stevens' caregiver.
A Mass Christian Burial will be at 1:00 PM Monday, May 21, 2012 in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Sunday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation Monday will be from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM in the funeral home.
