Elizabeth Ann (Butler) Landry, 67, of Lake Charles, LA, died Friday, January 1, 2016, in her home after battling lung cancer. She spent her final days surrounded by family, friends, her dog Lacey and listening to her favorite music and her favorite team, the New Orleans Saints, play.
Liz was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles and a graduate of LaGrange High School. She retired from AT&T after 30 years of dedicated service. She also served as local treasurer of the Telephone Pioneers of America. A devoted Christian, Liz was a member of Lake Charles Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Known for her generous spirit, Liz took great joy in helping others in need. Her infectious laugh was a trademark of her joyful, outgoing personality. She was a dedicated, loving friend to many and enjoyed spending her time with friends going to the movies or out to dinner. She also enjoyed shopping, New Orleans Saints football, her pets and sharing memorable conversations with her loved ones.
Liz is survived by her four siblings, Earline Savoy of Lafayette, Margaret Owens and her husband Doug of Lake Charles, Hilda Faulk and her husband Roger of Lake Charles, and Alex Butler and his wife Sherry of Hemphill, Texas; a stepdaughter, Patty Rogers Augustine of Lake Charles; a granddaughter, Lillian “Lilly” Guilbeau of Lake Charles; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 21 years, Barney Landry, her parents, Earl and Lillian Butler, and her best friend Liz Tate.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2pm, at Lake Charles Seventh-Day Adventist Church in the sanctuary (1537 Country Club Road). Memorial donations may be made in memory of Elizabeth “Liz” Landry to Free to Breathe (www.freetobreathe.org) or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
