E. Ann Pinson Franklin Martin, 74, of Birmingham, AL, died at 12:15 AM on Thursday, March 3, 2011 in a Lake Charles, LA hospital.
Mrs. Martin was born March 24, 1936 in Aliceville, AL, lived most of her life in Birmingham, AL, and has lived in Lake Charles for the past eighteen months. She worked as a secretary for a number of years at Techni Flow and was a member of the Garden Club in Birmingham, AL. She was associated with Glad Tidings Assembly of God Fellowship in Lake Charles. Mrs. Martin enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling, the Atlanta Braves, and gardening, and will always be remembered as an excellent cook. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and cats and will always be remembered as a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, who was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughter, Lynn Franklin Bengston and husband Wayne Bengston, Sr. of Westlake, LA; sister, Margaret Browning of Birmingham, AL; sister-in-law, Glaydell Pinson of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Penny Harper Brooks of Clanton, AL, Sarah Bengston of Lake Charles, Wayne Bengston, Jr. of Cordelia, CA, Stephanie Daigle and husband Larry, Jessica Bess Celestine and husband James, and Nathan Bengston, all of Lake Charles; eleven great-grandchildren; and her cat, Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Louis and Bessie Mae Pinson; husbands, Jack Ned Franklin and William O. Martin; daughter, Karen Franklin Harper; and brother, George Kenneth Pinson.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Gary Evers will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service. Burial will be in Forest Crest Cemetery in Irondale, AL.
