Elizabeth "Betty" Anne Bonnecaze Lancaster, 87, of Lake Charles, died, Saturday, October 18, 2014 in a local care facility. Mrs. Lancaster was born in New Orleans and graduated from the Ursuline Academy and attended Stephens Women's College. She married Navy Pilot- Lieutenant Commander, Henry Lancaster, and subsequently travelled for many years with her husband as a Navy wife, eventually settling in New Orleans and later transferred to Lake Charles with her husband and children. She became an active volunteer in the ABWA, PTA, Little League, Boys & Girls Scouts, Classroom Room Mother, and also worked with her husband for many years in their Insurance and Tax Agency. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, enjoyed outdoor activities, sewing for her children, nature and animals, travelling and her neighborhood coffee group. She will always be remembered for her quick wit and feisty personality. She is survived by three daughters, Linda Ross of Sulphur, Elizabeth "Lisa" Whitford and her husband Anthony "Tony" of Lafayette, Virginia "Ginger" Moss and her husband Stuart of Sulphur; three sons, Paul Lancaster and wife Melinda, William "Billy" Lancaster, and Peter Lancaster, all of Lake Charles. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Scott Whitford, Emily Lancaster, Nicholas Nash, Joshua Weatherly, Elizabeth Whitford, Bryan Nash, Garrett Nash, Jana Lancaster, Joseph Lancaster, Gabriel Lancaster, and step-grandchildren, Russell "Rusty" Manuel, Ryan Manuel, and her great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Henry Denechaud Lancaster, her parents, Leonce Bonnecaze and Marie Meral, her step-mother, Iyla Bonnecaze, her sister, Marie Hinnershitz, and two grandsons, Michael Lancaster and Patrick Lancaster. Her funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 19, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Harold Nixon will officiate. Entombment will be in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM in the funeral home and a rosary will be recited at 2:30 PM. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers Diana, Sheila, Cricket, and Brenda who greatly assisted Mrs. Lancaster in remaining in her home and also thank Dr. Phillip Conner and his staff, Dr. Ken Thomas and the Cornerstone staff for their kindness and care.
