Elizabeth "Betty Clo" Lake

Elizabeth Chlothilde “Betty Clo” Benoit Lake, 84, of Lake Charles, LA died at 1:50 AM on Friday, August 26, 2016 in her residence.

Mrs. Lake was born December 5, 1931 in Vinton, LA, where she lived until moving to Lake Charles for college.  She graduated from McNeese State University in 1954 and went on to teach for the Calcasieu Parish School Board for thirty years.  She spent twenty-six of those years at LaGrange High School, where she was very active as a volunteer and sponsor throughout the years.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Charles.  She was an avid reader and loved to spend time in her Colorado home for the summers and holidays.

Mrs. Lake is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Kenneth Brandt Lake, Jr.; daughters, Laurey Conway, Lynda Zelenka, and Lana Lake Foster and husband Charles; grandchildren, Zack Conway, Richard Zelenka, Christine Kimmel and husband Rhys, and Kenneth Lance Schnauder; and one great-grandson, Ben, on-the-way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Rosabel Benoit.

Her prayer service will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 4:30 PM at Johnson Funeral Home.  Rev. Chandler Willis will officiate.  A gathering of family and friends will be on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
