Elizabeth Betty Mae Gentil Breaux

July 2, 1928 — October 7, 2012

Elizabeth Betty Mae Gentil Breaux, 84, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.


She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Over her lifetime, she was a devoted homemaker for her family. She was also a valued employee of the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate, Houston Chronicle, Houston Post, Times-Picayune, West Brothers, Gordon's Jewelers, Stuart's, and most recently Dollar General. She was a native of Port Arthur, TX and resided in Lake Charles since 1953.


Mrs. Breaux was preceded in death by her husband, Percy. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Powers (James) of Lake Charles and Elizabeth Overholt (Jeff) of Tomball, TX. She is also survived by four sons, Stephen Breaux (Camille) of Alexandria, LA, Alan Breaux (Vickie) of Lafayette, LA, Michel Breaux of Houston, TX, and Roger Breaux of Lake Charles. She also has a sister, Virgie Lee Macha (Charlie) of Port Neches, TX and a brother, Claude Gentil (Janie) of Austin, TX. Mrs. Breaux has eleven grandchildren, Amanda Ackley, John Powers, Sarah Powers, Allison Breaux, Megan Daboval, Jonathan Breaux, Rebecca Mooney, Christopher Breaux, Chad Breaux, Courtney Chirdo, and Tyler Overholt. There are also six great-grandchildren, Sam, Noah, Christabel, Secily, Angelina, and Sofia.


Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Reverend John Huckaby will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a scripture service at 6:00 PM followed by a Cursillo Rosary. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 9:40 AM.


The family would like to express their grateful appreciation to the staff of Women and Children's Hospital, Memorial Hospital, Brighton Bridge Hospice, and her very caring hospice nurse, Jodi Guidry.
