Ella Neol Crochet

August 24, 1938 — October 29, 2021

Ella Neol Crochet, 83, of Lake Charles entered eternal rest, Friday, October 29, 2021 from her new home in Nacogdoches, TX.

She lived most of her life between Houston and the Lake Area.  She worked several jobs throughout the years: Abe’s Grocery attendant being the longest; freight ship cook,  the most appreciated and Walgreen’s clerk, most social.  During her later years she found her most rewarding work as a care giver of the elderly.

Spending time with her family was something she cherished, she loved getting them together for a home cooked meal.  She enjoyed listening to French, younger days of weekend dances and later in life came to love playing BINGO.  Her passion was tending to her flower gardens and the fishponds she created amongst them.

A kind, gracious lady of faith, family, strength and independence, Mrs. Crochet was a longtime member of the Catholic Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Sammy Crochet and wife Glenda of Arkansas; two sons, Shane Rougeau and wife Martha and Kent Rougeau and wife Velma, all of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Jason Boone and wife Roberta of Iowa, Jennifer Womack and Jeremiah Sheeter of Scott, James Rougeau and wife Jennifer of Katy, TX and Laikin Rougeau of Lake Charles; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her father, Clenay Crochet; mother, Isabelle Soileau; daughter, Melissa Rougeou Boone; two brothers, John and Tim Crochet and a sister, Jean Constance.

Mrs. Crochets family extends heartfelt thanks to nieces, Denise Crochet and Susan Kenner for the care, compassion and time shared with their precious mother.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:00 PM Friday, November 05, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Father Levi Thompson will officiate.  Family and friends will gather Friday from 12:00 PM until the time of service in the church.
