Ellen Courts Hargett

Ellen Courts Hargett, 73, of Lake Charles passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 in her home.

Mrs. Hargett was born and raised in Beaumont, TX and was a 1958 graduate of Beaumont High School. She has lived fifty years in Lake Charles. She worked twenty years with the Calcasieu Parish School Board at College Oaks Elementary with Special Needs Children. Mrs. Hargett took great pride in being an active part in her children's lives, having been room mother, PTO President, followed countless activities and was always their biggest cheerleader. During her younger years, she enjoyed painting. She also enjoyed entertainment, traveling from Houston to Biloxi to see shows with her family and friends. She especially loved her Wednesday Lunch Bunch girls day out. Mrs. Hargett will be most remembered as a friendly, fun loving, lady with class.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of fifty years, Larry Hargett of Lake Charles; daughter, Pam Powers and husband Paul of Lake Charles; son, Russell Hargett and wife Beth of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Taylor Powers, Emma Hargett and Parker Hargett, all of Lake Charles; one sister, Faye Goodman of Vidor, TX; one brother, Richard Courts of Vidor, TX and one sister-in-law, Hazel Courts of Vidor, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hal O. and Lirline Goode Courts and one brother, Hal O. Courts, Jr.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday May 01, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Charlie Langford will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Tuesday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
