Ellen Janet Cooper Arabie

Ellen Janet Cooper Arabie, 76, of Lake Charles, LA died at 5:53 PM on Friday, May 9, 2014 in a local hospital. Mrs. Arabie was born March 31, 1938 in Many, LA, where she was raised and moved to Lake Charles at the age of sixteen. She devoted her life to her husband, children, and her grandchildren. She was of the Christian faith, loved the Lord and attended Lake City Baptist Church and Glad Tidings Assembly of God. Mrs. Arabie is survived by her son, Anthony Arabie and wife Jennifer of Lake Charles, LA; daughters, Vickie Cooley and husband Danny of Lake Charles, LA and Jackie Savoie and husband Robert of Grand Lake, LA; brothers, Victor "Vic" Cooper of Lake Charles, Roland "Bo" Cooper of Mansfield, LA, and Tommie Cooper of Moss Bluff; sister, Rosie Cangelose of Mansfield, LA; seven grandchildren, Lance Thibodeaux, Tiffany Savoie, Lucas Thibodeaux, Haylee Savoie, Randall Arabie, Brianna Arabie and Randy Fountain; and one great-grandson, Blaize Savoie. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Antoine Elward "Slick" Arabie; parents, Amos and Nola Pilkington Cooper; son-in-law, Larry Thibodeaux, Jr. and brothers, Doyle Cooper, Paul Cooper, and Wayne Cooper. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
