Ellen Mam Ma Blanchette

Ellen Savant Blanchette, 90, of Lake Charles, died Wednesday November 21, 2012 at a local care center after an extended illness.

Mam Ma was born in Kinder, LA to Amadie and Artemise Nugent Savant. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Apostolic Temple of United Pentecostal Church for many years. Mrs. Blanchette was a babysitter for many children in Lake Charles.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are two sons, Larry Blanchette and wife Martha of Sweetlake, and Roy Blanchette and wife Belle of Lake Charles; one daughter, Debra Ann Kershaw of Lake Charles; two sisters, Ethel Batchelor of Kings Farm, and Jeanette LeJeune of Welsh; four grandchildren, Trey Blanchette, Dominique Blanchette, Monique Odom, and Melissa Ann Cohn and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years Roy Blanchette, Sr.

Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until 1:45 PM Sunday November 25, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at Prein Memorial Park with the Rev. Ricky Treece officiating.
