Ellis John

March 12, 1924 — July 19, 2015

Ellis John of Sulphur, LA passed away on July 19, 2015 in a local care center. He was born in Sulphur, LA on March 12, 1924 and graduated from Sulphur High School in 1942. Ellis played football, basketball and was on the 1941 basketball team who won the Parish Championship in 1941 under Coach John Whatley. He served his country in the U S Air Force in WWII, stationed at Cannon AFB, Clovis, New Mexico and returned home to earn his degree in accounting at USL. John loved all sports, being an avid golfer, and enjoyed all sports on TV. His greatest joy was attending his sons' baseball and basketball games and in later years attending his grandkids games. Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Doris Meaux John of Sulphur; his two sons, Mark E. John and Christopher "Chris" E. John and wife Bridget Regan John all of Sulphur; 3 grandchildren, (twins) Alex and Danielle John and Jamie Lynn Little all of Sulphur; 2 sisters, Juliette Benglis of Lake Charles and Ruby Lee Crider of Mansfield, TX. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Matthew Emerson John; his parents, Joseph John and Annie Amuny John; his brother, John J. John; and his sister, Esma John Nader. A memorial will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 4 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2-4 P.M. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 for a gathering before the service.
