Elton Lanie Williams, Jr., 81, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 12:30 AM on Saturday, July 22, 2017 in a local care facility.
Mr. Williams was born July 13, 1936 in Rockdale, TX, received his Bachelors of Art from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1963 and his Masters in 1976 from East Texas State University. He worked for Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, spending the last twenty-five years as the CEO. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Williams served on numerous boards throughout the years, including Evergreen. He was a member of the Louisiana Hospital Association and LABI (Louisiana Association of Business Industry) and was a member of the Lake Charles Country Club. Mr. Williams was an avid golfer, who enjoyed reading, traveling and fine foods, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Karen Williams of Lake Charles; daughter, Kathryn Cashwell and husband Narley from North Carolina; step-son, Wesley Romero and wife Meghan of Lake Charles; brother, Ben Erle Williams and wife Jimmie of Garland, TX; and grandchildren, Christopher Williams of North Carolina and Charlie and Kate Romero of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Hillin Williams and Elton Lanie Williams, Sr.; and son, Steven Williams.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Chandler Willis will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
