Elton was born May 30, 1946 in Shreveport, LA. He lived his entire childhood in Many, LA. After graduating from high School in 1964, he worked at the Chevrolet dealership. In 1966, he joined the United States Air Force, and was stationed in Tacoma, WA. He worked his way up to Sargent, and, in 1969, was honorably discharged. He returned to Many until the passing of his parents, then moved to Baton Rouge to work with his cousins. After living in Baton Rouge for several years, he returned back to Many to work for his best friend “Butch” at his automotive shop. His final move was to Lake Charles to be near his two sisters, both of which preceded him in death. Elton had a true passion for motorsports and enjoyed NASCAR and football.
He is survived by two nieces, Patsy Reeves and Mary Jane Casey, both of Lake Charles and two nephews, Danny and David Leach, both of Shreveport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lena Pourciau Hernandez and his four siblings.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny and David Leach.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 15 at St. John Catholic Church Cemetery in Many.
