Emily Cooke Kline, 93, of Lake Charles, died on August 29, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Kline was born in Iowa, Louisiana on August 11, 1920, to John Fredrick and Edith May Lightner Cooke. She was very involved in community activities, having served as an active PTA member and a Bluebird and Campfire Mom. She was a longtime member of Boulevard Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and an active member of WMU. Emily sang in the Messiah Chorus for 35 years. In her free time, Ms. Kline loved spending time with her family and tending to her flowers.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Eugene L. Kline. Those left to honor and cherish her memory are one son, Albert Bert John Kline and wife Michelle of Picayune, Mississippi; two daughters, Jeanie Landry and husband Larry and Marie DeLaRosa and husband Jose, both of Sulphur; brother Joseph A. Cooke of Ft. Myers, FL; sisters Wanda Cooke and Viola Moore, both of Lake Charles; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of service, at 2:00 PM. Dr. John White will be officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of the second floor of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital (Oncology) and Drs. Thompson and Jordan, as well as the staff of Pulmonary Associates of SW Louisiana for the kind, loving and compassionate care shown to our mother in her final days.
