It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Emma Ray Hornsby, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Lake Charles community, who left this world on December 22, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born on May 29, 1932, in Hardy County, Kentucky. She lived most of her young life in the Kentucky/West Virginia area. Emma lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family.
Emma was a devoted homemaker whose nurturing spirit and boundless love were felt by all who knew her. She embraced the roles of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with unparalleled passion, providing a warm and welcoming home for her children—Karen, Terry, Larry & Randy who brought her immeasurable joy in her later years. Her legacy will live on through the cherished memories she created with each of them.
Emma was preceded in death by her loving & devoted husband, Norman, and by her parents, Henry and Hattie Ray, who instilled in her the values of kindness and resilience. She is survived by her sons Terry, Larry, Randy, and her daughter Karen, and her thirteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren. They will forever hold her close in their hearts, remembering her gentle nature, generous spirit, and the unwavering support she provided throughout their lives.
To honor Emma’s life, a funeral service will be held on January 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the enduring impact she had on their lives. A public viewing will take place earlier that day at the same location, beginning at 11:00 AM, allowing all who loved her to pay their respects and share in their collective memories.
