Emma Trahan

Emma Louise Morris Trahan, 53, of Starks, LA died at 10:45 PM on Sunday, December 30, 2012 in a local hospital.


Mrs. Trahan was born March 5, 1959 in Lake Charles and has lived in Starks for almost 30 year. She ran Trahan's Hardware with her husband for fourteen years and then worked at Wal-Mart in customer service for fifteen years. She also volunteered for Starks EMS for a number of years and recently for AARP and United Way Tax Services. Mrs. Trahan enjoyed cooking, gardening and growing roses. She collected frogs and thimbles and was an avid couponer. She was always willing to help others in need.


Mrs. Trahan is survived by her husband of forty years, Eugene Trahan of Starks; children, Belinda Sargent and husband Larry Sargent, Jr. of Lake Charles, Kimberly Wheeler and husband Max of Sulphur, Jennifer Dupre and husband Douglas of Starks, Amber Trahan of Sulphur, and Jonathan Trahan of Starks; brothers, Bobby Morris, Charles Morris and wife Wanda, and Gary Morris and wife Betty, all of Lake Charles; sister, Gayla Trahan and husband Jean of Lake Charles; mother-in-law, Ethel Arabie and husband Wilson of Lake Charles; and grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ryan Courmier, James and Hannah Sargent, Brittany, Charles, and Michael Watkins, Travis Muth, Ava and Jakk Haden Greer, Ma'Kenna and Zoey Sample and Lilly Jayde Trahan.


She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Viola Fox Morris; son-in-law, Gerald Courmier; and father-in-law, Alvin Trahan.


Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Starks. Reverend Tony Bourque will officiate. Burial will follow in Miller Annex Cemetery in Starks, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 AM.
