Ennis Redmond Brady

Ennis Redmond Brady, 82, of Lake Charles, LA died at 11:50 AM on Monday, January 23, 2012 in a local hospital after a lengthy illness.


Mr. Brady was born October 18, 1929 in LeCompte, LA to Valda Redmond Brady and Henry Clay Brady, Sr. He was a graduate of LeCompte High School and Louisiana College. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War onboard the USS Wiseman. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked as a chemist at PPG in Lake Charles then at Firestone, where he retired in 1985. Mr. Brady was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he was active in the International Sunday School Class. He also enjoyed working with international students at McNeese State University. He taught English as a second language at the Literacy Council until health problems stopped him.


Mr. Brady is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Maxine Wallace Brady; son, Wallace Brady of Lake Charles; brother, Henry Brady of Robertsdale, AL; one nephew; and five nieces.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Valda and Clay Brady; sister, Deon B. Fox; and brother, Basil O. Brady.


His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Steve James will officiate. Graveside service will be at Woodland Memorial Park in Jena, LA on Thursday at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.


Pallbearers will be Russell Sittig, Carter Sittig, Michael Woodward, Jim Selfridge, Guy Williams, Lee Nealy, Dan Batchelor, and Brent Cating.
