Ernest Jewell Nettles, Sr., 91, of Lake Charles passed away Thursday, June 06, 2013 in a Jennings hospital.
Mr. Nettles was born and raised in Smithdale, MS, and lived the past sixty years in Lake Charles. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Nettles worked in sales most of his life, having retired as Manager after many years of service with Honeycutt Furniture.
He enjoyed fishing and visiting with neighbors. He took great pride in his family, and caring for his wife throughout her illness. Mr. Nettles was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church.
He leaves to honor his memory, Ernest J. Nettles, Jr. of Lake Charles and James R. Nettles of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Greg Nettles and wife Crystal of Sulphur; Jennifer Calingasan and husband Greg of Sulphur and Chris Nettles and wife Brandy of Moss Bluff; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, Eva Brown Nettles; daughter, Janice Faye Nettles; brothers, Harold Nettles, Henry Lee Nettles, Jr. and Douglas Nettles.
Memorial services will be 2:00PM Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Smithdale, MS. Reverend Floyd Wilkinson will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
