Ernest "Red" Broussard

Ernest "Red" Broussard died peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Lake Charles, LA at the age of 78. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Verly Julia Klumpp Broussard. Ernest was born on June 16, 1937 in Lake Arthur, Louisiana to Claude and Elia Dubois Broussard. From 1954 to 1958 he proudly served the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal. He married Verly in June of 1956 and started his family soon after. He was a local farmer, cattleman and businessman. He is survived by his three children, Julie Thompson, Sarah Rothbauer, with husband David, and Mark Broussard; grandchildren, Tiffany Southard, Jordan Thompson with wife Marianna Poe Thompson, Danielle Broussard, Matthew Thompson with fiancé Kayla Bonvillian, Corey Broussard, and Nicholas Rothbauer; great grandchildren, Casey, Jace, Brooks, Carson and soon to arrive Cohpen and Reed . He is survived by his brother Carrol "CJ" Broussard and preceded in death by his other siblings Kenneth Broussard, Earline Hebert, Esther Brown, Darnell Broussard, Dorsey Broussard, Eric Campbell, and Donald King. He is also survived by the living members of his departed wife's family along with Tony Thompson, father of Thompson grandchildren; Laurie Darbonne, mother of Broussard grandchildren, and his dear friend Jane McFarland. He cherished his time at The Veranda and the new friendships he made while living there. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. A private burial will be held at Consolata Cemetery with Mnsg. Charles Dubois officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:30 PM and continue until the start of the service. A rosary will be held at 6:00 PM.
