Ernie Little

Ernie Little 72, slipped away on Friday, January 04, 2013. A native of Hackberry, born there on September 30,1940. A fourth generation cattleman, Ernie carried on the family tradition of raising cattle with his sons and grandchildren. Ernie loved all things western. Ernie was the 1959 Louisiana High School All Around Cowboy. He was a founder of the Hackberry High School rodeo in 1975. He has hauled to many a State and National Finals all over this great country with his boys and grandchildren. He served on the Louisiana High School Rodeo Association board of directors for 10 years and was a member of both the NCBA and LCBA Cattlemens Association. He was also active in the Cameron Parish Livestock program with his children and grandchildren. Ernie was very active in his faith and worshiped at St. Peters the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry his entire life. Ernie leaves many to honor his memory. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mae Doris Constance Little; sons, Todd and wife, Robbie Little, Tim and wife, Angie Little and Thad and wife, Stacy Little; his most cherished grandchildren, Kory Dahlen and fiance Caroline Piazza, Gabriell, Samantha, Torey, Charli Ann, Tayt, and Ike along with 3 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren; his sister, Judy and husband Dennis Bowman; brothers, Johnny Little, Butch and wife Katherine Little. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Beulah Little and sister, Jane Wright. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry with Father Rommel Tolentino and Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church Cemetery under the direction of Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 2-9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the church hall and will resume on Monday at 9 a.m. until time of service.
