Ervin James Demary, Jr.

Ervin James DeMary, Jr., 71, of Lake Charles, LA died at 9:23 AM on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in a local care facility.


Mr. DeMary was born November 3, 1941 in Lake Charles, LA, where he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from LaGrange High School, attended McNeese State University, and served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. DeMary retired from Olin (Lyondell) in 2006 as a Control Room Operator after thirty-five years of service. He was a faithful follower of Christ and enjoyed worshiping in all church affiliations, including serving as a deacon and on the board. He enjoyed sports and liked coaching Little League Football and Baseball games and coaching tennis. Mr. DeMary also enjoyed riding horses with the grandchildren, music, traveling and reading, especially the Bible. He will always be remembered as an encourager, loved spending time with his family and friends and loved to laugh.


Mr. DeMary is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Reda Garner DeMary; two sons, Gregory Allan DeMary and wife Kasey of The Woodlands, TX and Scott Everett DeMary of Lake Charles; daughter, Kimberly Diane DeMary of Lake Charles; brother, Ronald Joseph DeMary of Flint, MI; sister, Carol Ann DeMary of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Jessica Linscomb, Erica Linscomb, Emily Linscomb, Jonathan DeMary, Morgan DeMary, and Emma Kate DeMary; and three great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Hunter, Ethan Hunter, and Annaclaire Linscomb.


His funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Robert Murray and Filton Thibodeaux will officiate. Burial will follow in Grand Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
