Essie Dean Hoffpauir

Essie Dean Hoffpauir, 84, of Lake Charles passed away at 12:04 PM on Thursday, August 23, 2018 in her daughter’s residence.

Mrs. Hoffpauir was born on April 15, 1934 in Mamou, LA and moved to Lake Charles in 1953.

Those left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Brenda Redd of Lake Charles; three sons, Ferrell Soileau of Lake Charles, Joseph Craig Soileau of Sulphur, and Curt Soileau (Nell) of Eunice; sister, Pat Lynn Esthay of Moss Bluff; brother, Jimmy McCauley of Mandeville; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Patrick McCauley; father of her children, Burkman Soileau; husband, Clarence Hoffpauir; sisters, Winnie Morvant Picard, Wilda Smith, and Bossett Reed; and brothers-in-law, Ivy Morvant, Bill Picard, Dallas Smith, Francis Reed, Roland Esthay, and David H. Redd.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Amedisys Hospice for their special care given to their mother.
