Essie John Richard

Essie John Richard, 82, of Iowa, LA, died on Friday, June 3, 2016.

 

Mr. Richard was born January 31, 1934 in Church Point, LA and moved to Iowa, LA in 1957.  He worked at Market Basket in Moss Bluff as a butcher, where he retired after twenty-three years of service.  Mr. Richard was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church.  He enjoyed gardening, beekeeping, dancing, barbequing, traveling, camping, and woodworking, but his true passion in life was for his family. He was a friend to everyone, never meeting a stranger, and had a thirst to learn and enjoy life.

 

Mr. Richard is survived by his wife of over fifteen years, Bessie Ardoin Richard; daughter, Connie Ann Wieschhaus and husband Steve of Moss Bluff; step-sons, Nolan Wayne Guillot and wife Freda of Tomball, TX and Jimmie Allen Guillot and wife Roxann, of LeBleu Settlement; son-in-law, Bryan Courville of LeBleu Settlement; daughter at heart, Janet Fuselier of Hawaii; brother, Culand Richard of Church Point, LA; sister, Joyce Matte of Church Point; grandchildren, Shanna Courville, Lauren Courville, Rachel Wieschhaus, Heath Stine, Wendee Newell, Christi Stollsteimer, Kevin Guillot, Michael Guillot; Janee Fuselier, and Jalee Palompo; and nine great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Beverlyn Thibodeaux Richard; daughter, Glenda Faye Courville; parents, John and Corrine Richard; and three sisters, Bertha Landry, Lois Boudreaux, and Beverly Mounier.

 

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Iowa, LA.  Father Bill Miller will officiate.  Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the funeral home.
