Essie Mae Rhame

Essie Dickerson Rhame, 88, of Lake Charles died at 6:25 AM on Friday, January 30, 2015 in a Kinder care facility. Mrs. Rhame was born on May 29, 1926 in Evangeline Parish, LA. She was an Oberlin native and was a graduate of Oberlin High School. Mrs. Rhame lived in Lake Charles since 1946 where she was a member of First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for several years at many churches. In her earlier years she worked at Sears for many years. She was past matron of Eastern Star Justice Chapter #238. Those left to cherish her memories are two sons and their wives, John L. Dickerson and Peggy of Reeves, LA and Luther Wayne Dickerson and Debbie of Kinder, LA; two step sons, Kevin and Sammy Rhame both of Lake Charles; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Luther Dickerson; her second husband, Glenevar K. Rhame; two siblings, Houston and Joseph Fontenot; and her parents, Lottie and Norman Fontenot. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 2, 2015 in Kinder Bible Church. The Rev. Don Barrett will officiate. Burial will follow in Oberlin City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Sunday in the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday in the church starting at 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
