Estelle W. Lovejoy

Estelle Walker Lovejoy, 88, of Sulphur, died Monday May 6, 2013 in a local hospital following a sudden illness.

Mrs. Lovejoy was born in Houston, Texas and met her husband, Dr. Harold B. Lovejoy, while attending Rice University. The couple lived in Chicago and Galveston, TX while Harold completed his medical training. They then lived in Houston and Fort Smith, AR before settling in Sulphur in the 1950s. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. She served on the Altar and Earth Guilds and was also active in the community through her work with Habitat for Humanity.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Harold B. Lovejoy. Those left to honor and cherish her memories are her four children, their families, and many friends. Family members include Wallace Walker Lovejoy and wife Angie and their daughter, Paige W. Lovejoy, Cincinnati, Ohio; Mary Elizabeth Lovejoy, Round Top, Texas; Margaret Helen Lovejoy and husband Gary Clevenger, Carlyss, and their children, Sarah E. Clevenger and Katherine L. Clevenger; John Harold Lovejoy and wife Becky, Carlyss and their children, David W. Lovejoy and wife Jessica (their children Tanner and Brody), Baton Rouge, Matthew W. Lovejoy and Elizabeth A. Lovejoy, both of Carlyss; and one sister, Hally Beth Walker Poindexter, Houston, Texas.

Memorial services will be at 4:00 PM on Saturday May 11, 2013 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Sulphur with Father Jim Benbrook officiating. A celebration of her life will follow the service at the church Jubilee Center. The family invites friends to join them at the reception between 5:00 and 7:00 PM.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care given by Mrs. Lovejoy's caregivers and physicians.
