Esther Durio

Esther Wallace Durio, 82, of Kinder, LA died at 7:37 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2011.

Mrs. Durio was born March 28, 1929 in Isabella, OK, where she was raised. She moved to Southwest Louisiana over sixty years ago, where she has lived in Basile, Lake Charles, Westlake, and Kinder for the past twenty years. She was a member of Kingsfarm Pentecostal Church, where she was a part of the Upper Crust. She loved her family, flowers, and family reunions, and could do anything from quilting, crocheting, scrapbooking to woodworking. During her younger years, she also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Durio is survived by her children, Gail Ann Murphy of Woodlawn, LA, Lenora Segura and husband Donald of Delcambre, LA, Joseph F. Durio, Jr. of LeBleu Settlement, LA, Judy Newman and husband George of LeBleu Settlement, LA, Jeff Durio of Azle, TX, and Janell Higginbotham and husband Edgar of Lake Charles; sister, Joyce Quibodeaux of LeBlanc, LA; niece, Brenda White; nephew, Allen Quibodeaux; twenty grandchildren; forty-eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Durio, Sr.; grandson, A.J. Higginbotham; great-grandchild, Sydney Gary; and great-great-grandchild, Isabella Murphy.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Kingsfarm Pentecostal Church. Reverends A. A. Haymon, Jr. and Steve Haymon will officiate. Burial will follow in Jessie Johnson Memorial Cemetery in Kinder, LA. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and continue at the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
