Ethel M. Deshotel Roth

Born September 16, 1925 in Fenton, LA to Clopha and AgnesVidrine Deshotel, she was raised on a working farm with her six siblings. Ethel passed peacefully during the early morning hours on Tuesday January 20, 2015 from the comfort of her home. Ethel devoted her life to Jesus and following the plan he had for her as a loving wife to her late husband of 65 years, John H. Roth. She was also a devoted mother of five children and a healer using the power of God and reflexology. She was a faithful member, active in her church choir at St. John Boscoe Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and Rosary club. She proudly raised her children in Catholic faith as well as teaching them Catholicism. She was preceded in death by her loving husband John H. Roth. She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Christopher Roth and his wife Jeanette of Virginia, Gary Roth and his wife Theresa of Iowa, Louisiana, and Mike Roth Sr. of California; two daughters, Sheila Roth of Austin, TX and Agnes Schultz of Crystal Beach, Texas; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She also leaves, her sisters, Fern Fuselier of Mississippi, and Rena Gayle and her husband Pat of Lake Charles. The family of Mrs. Roth wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses of Southern Hospice for their care and guidance with dementia related difficulties and for educating Sheila, in comforting her Mother, during the last stages of her life. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Fred Reed will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Wednesday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Thursday will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
