Eugene Edward Nichols Sr., 88, of Sulphur, LA passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020.
Eugene was born on January 23, 1932 in Augusta, VA to Bernard and Grace Nichols. He enjoyed his grandchildren, his dogs and could always be found sitting outside drinking coffee on the porch listening to Cajun Music. Eugene proudly served his country in the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. After serving his country he later moved here from Virginia to marry the love of his life, Judy Richard Nichols and started his career at Lonestar Cement, Freedman Shipyard ,and eventually finishing his career in the local refineries as a pipe fitter. Eugene was a past Post 8107 Commander at the V.F.W. in Sulphur, LA.
He is survived by his three children, Eugene Nichols Jr. and wife Leila of Lake Charles, LA, Grace Ann Nichols of Sulphur, LA, and Russell Metreyeon of Baytown, TX; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are pending.
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; 5 siblings; and one stepson, Charlie Metreyeon.
