Eugenia "Mae" Hebert

July 12, 1944 — February 26, 2022

Eugenia Mae Lege Hebert, 77, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022 in her residence.

Mrs. Hebert was born July 12, 1944 in Abbeville, LA and has lived in Lake Charles, LA for the past fifty-six years.  She worked a number of years for the Briar Patch Early Learning Center and later enjoyed watching children out of her home.  She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and a member of the Cajun French Music Association.  Mrs. Hebert was an avid bowler and bowled with various leagues throughout the years.

Mrs. Hebert is survived by her son, Hayward Joseph “Joey” Hebert, Jr. and wife Kelly; daughter-in-law, Pamela Hebert; brother, George Lege and wife Brenda; granddaughter, Amber Hebert; step-grandchildren, Christopher Newman and Craig Henneman; and great-grandchildren, Diamond, Adam, and Brendon Hebert.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Hayward Joseph Hebert, Sr.; son, Raymond John Hebert; parents, Esther and Rena Lege; four sisters; and four brothers.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Lake City Baptist Church.  Deacon Anthony Pousson will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9 AM to 11:00 AM.
